Tugu Train Station Yogyakarta – Who is familiar with Tugu Yogyakarta Station? With its beautiful architectural style and unique impression, it has become a special attraction for tourists from abroad. Opened in 1887, Yogyakarta Station is one of the oldest stations.
Yogyakarta Tugu Station was initially established for passenger transportation purposes, as well as transporting agricultural produce from plantations in Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Sumatra, and on May 2, 1887, Tugu Station was operational.
The uniqueness of Tugu Yogyakarta Station
One of the unique things about Yogyakarta Station is that there are several locomotive monuments located not far from the station, this is one of the main tourist attractions.
First, there is a monument to a portable steam engine made by Marshall Britannia, England, which is at the eastern departure entrance. Initially, the monument was in the middle position of the entrance road, now it has been moved to the north wing of the road.
Furthermore, there is a monument to the D3021 22 hydraulic diesel locomotive. This monument was installed on December 12 2018. The installation of this locomotive was carried out after the entire station underwent an overhaul.
Apart from the two monuments, the unique thing about this station is that it is located at the eastern departure gate close to the level crossing, namely that it has the Javanese script “Yogyakarta Station” written in large embossed letters.
One of the other unique things about this station is that it is located in the shape of the building which is flanked by train lines and an underground tunnel that connects the north platform to the south platform.
The front view of the building is part of the entrance facing east on Jalan Mangkubumi (Margo Utama), the axis of the city of Yogyakarta. Apart from that, not only is it a passenger station, but this station also still functions as a maintenance place for trains.

Tugu Yogyakarta Station has two entrances which of course have different addresses, namely the east door and the south door.
The east door is on Jalan Margo Utomo 1, or the south door is Jalan Pasar Kembang, Sosromenduran, Gedongtengen, Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta Special Region 55271, Indonesia.
Each door has its function, the east door is specifically for passengers who will be leaving by train or checking in. Meanwhile, passengers who have just arrived at Tugu Station go through the exit door, namely the south door.
In terms of operating hours, this station operates 24 hours with several train schedules which of course vary every day.
Tugu Yogyakarta Station facilities
Several facilities such as ATMs, playgrounds, charging corners, reflexology chairs, and others are available at Yogyakarta Tugu Station. Apart from that, there are also several facilities that are quite comfortable, one of which is Loko Cafe.
Loko Cafe makes it easy for passengers who want to order various menus with opening hours from 06.00 to 22.00 WIT. The price of food and drinks is also quite cheap.
The next facility that is no less interesting and comfortable is the Shower & Locker which is open from 05.00 to 23.00 WIB. Passengers can leave their belongings and clean themselves or just take a shower in clean facilities.
With a tariff of IDR 40,000 per person, passengers can use the shower and IDR 20,000 per hour can use a locker, payment is a non-cash system.
